Kitchen Renovations Dee Why

Tired of a Dee Why kitchen that’s cramped, dated or simply in the way? Red Hot Kitchens designs and builds custom kitchens for apartments and houses across Dee Why, and James looks after the whole job himself. He visits, takes the measurements and prepares a free quote with no strings attached. From there you speak with him, and only him, until the new kitchen is finished. Cabinetry is made to fit your room rather than bought off a shelf, and the price stays sharp because there’s no sales team or head office adding to it. As a local kitchen renovations company in the Northern Beaches, he knows the area’s homes well.

Kitchens Across Dee Why

Dee Why has a real split in housing, and it shapes most renovations here. Around the town centre and toward the beachfront, kitchens are usually in 1960s–80s apartment blocks and newer units, where footprints are compact and storage has to be planned carefully. Further west and up the hill, you’ll find a lot of freestanding post-war and 1960s–70s family homes. These often have larger kitchens that are still on their original layout, with dated cabinetry and limited bench space.

James designs to the room you actually have, not a standard layout, whether that means making a small apartment kitchen work harder or opening up an older family kitchen.

Our Renovation Process in Dee Why

The process is the same across the Northern Beaches, with the details adapted to your home or building:

Design (about a week)

You and James settle the layout, cabinetry and finishes together.

Production (4–5 weeks)

Once you sign off, the kitchen is made before any trades come on site.

Install (3–4 weeks)

James schedules the electrician, plumber and renderer around each other, from demolition through to handover.

Access & delivery

Dee Why apartments get lift bookings and loading arranged ahead of time. For houses, driveway and site access are sorted when James prepares your quote.

Recent Work in Dee Why

Here are some recent Dee Why kitchens, each designed around the owners’ home and brief, with James managing the project end to end.

Full Kitchen Renovation

This Dee Why renovation pairs charcoal cabinetry with a white marble-look benchtop, finished as waterfall ends on both the island and the peninsula. A white subway tile splashback and pendant lights lift the darker cabinetry, and a freestanding cooker and double-door fridge anchor the cooking zone. The layout opens onto the outdoor area through sliding doors, with a dark sink and brass tapware as the finishing touches. James designed, supplied and installed the kitchen himself, keeping the owners’ contact down to one person.

Custom Cabinetry & Benchtop Installation

This large kitchen was built for Colin, who wanted a full cabinetry and benchtop upgrade without the inflated price tag of the other quotes he’d received. James delivered a sleek, handle-free design in crisp white, with a stone island benchtop, integrated under-cabinet lighting and black tapware for contrast. The whole build was completed in just over three weeks, with James coordinating every trade directly so Colin only ever had one point of contact.

Why Dee Why Locals Choose Red Hot Kitchens

You deal with James directly, not a sales team or a rotating cast of project coordinators. He holds a joinery licence and has been operating on the Northern Beaches for over 7 years, running every trade off the same plan so nothing gets lost between the first measure and final handover. Pricing stays competitive without cutting into the quality of the build.

“We started getting a number of quotes for our new kitchen and then I came across  Red Hot Kitchens. James came and did a measure and quote for what is a pretty large kitchen. His quote came back much lower than the other quotes I had. So low, I got a bit nervous. However, we decided to go ahead with James and signed the contract. James said the job would take four weeks. It’s worth explaining that the way James works is a little different. He manages and coordinates everything, but he uses local trades that bill you directly. You might not be comfortable with that, but we were fine. In the end it all worked really well. The job was finished in just over 3 weeks. The cabinets and drawers are all of a high quality. The finish is great. And we are very happy with the outcome.

James accommodated quite a few changes through the process and generally this didn’t affect the price we had agreed on. He was really easy to deal with. The trades he worked with did a great job and all went the extra mile to make sure everything worked as it should and that everything was done on time.

Very happy, would highly recommend.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need strata approval to renovate my Dee Why apartment?

Yes, if your kitchen is in a strata building you’ll need your owners corporation’s sign-off before any work begins. James can supply the details your strata manager asks for, but you lodge the application yourself. Council approval isn’t needed for his renovation work.

Streets near the town centre and Pittwater Road can be busy, and some buildings have limited loading space. James checks access when he quotes and plans deliveries and trade parking around it, so the job isn’t held up once it starts.

Most Dee Why kitchens follow the same three stages: around a week for design, 4–5 weeks of production once you’ve signed off, and 3–4 weeks of installation on site. For apartments, getting materials up by lift or stairs is usually the biggest variable, and James builds that into his quote.

Yes. Dee Why has everything from compact units to freestanding post-war and 1960s–70s houses, and James designs around the layout you have instead of a fixed plan.
